start making beats with fl studio then get good enough that you can sell those beats....then sell em save money and get better equipment....countinue selling and making beats outa your new equipment till your recongnized as a producer

Yea man, start with something like FL or Reason and from there keep building till you get the hang of it.

Learn to play a traditional instrument first. Trust me, it helps a lot because you learn the fundamentals of music, as in what keys sound good together and you get a feel for timing.
If you need any other tips let me know, and good luck with your desire to become a producer.
